Mica paper in the market is generally divided into white mica paper and gold mica paper. But what is the difference between the two different colors of mica paper? What are the issues to look out for when buying and using them?
The heat resistance of white mica paper and gold mica paper is determined by their swelling degree. Following the increase of heating temperature, water (loss of crystalline water) is produced, and the water expands in the direction perpendicular to the mica dissection plane. When white mica is generally heated to 500-600 degrees, the expansion phenomenon is not obvious; when heated to 800-880 degrees, its expansion thickness is 400%-750% of the original. While light-colored gold mica heated to 1000 degrees or more, it produces thermal expansion, clarifying that gold mica can be used at 90-1000 degrees, but it loses its transparency and its mechanical properties also decline.
1、The electrical properties of mica paper. Mica is a layered crystal structure, so like layered insulation products have the same anisotropic properties. The volume resistivity of white mica is 1014 ~ 1015gcm, and that of gold mica is 1013 ~ 1014gcm, while that of white mica is only 108 ~ 109gcm along the dissection plane; that of gold mica is 107 ~ 108gcm. The dielectric strength of mica decreases with the increase of temperature.
2. Thermal properties of mica plates. Mica is highly heat resistant, but when the temperature rises to a certain value, mica loses crystalline water, and if the temperature continues to rise, mica will produce thermochemical decomposition.
3、Chemical properties of mica plate. Mica has outstanding chemical stability, especially white mica. There is almost no effect on alkaline white mica, but white mica can cause weak positive reaction when it meets water, and no reaction to hydrochloric acid. While gold mica can cause strong alkaline reaction when it meets water, and will increase with its acid concentration when it meets hydrochloric acid.
